What we own
Everything on this site — the text, photographs, illustrations, diagrams, product and ingredient descriptions, pharmacology summaries, the design of the site itself, and the code that runs it — is owned by Dermal Health Science (Pty) Ltd or used by us under licence. It is protected by the Copyright Act 98 of 1978 and by the law of other countries.
Our clinical and educational content is the part we would ask you to treat with most care. The ingredient pharmacology, the mode-of-action explanations and the skin assessment logic represent a substantial amount of original work.
Trade marks
DermExcel™, Dermal Health Science, Dermalhealthstore™, Dermal Diagnosis and our product names, logos, the copper bead device and our brand line are trade marks of Dermal Health Science (Pty) Ltd, whether registered or not. Nothing on this site grants you a right to use them.
Other names and marks that appear here belong to their owners. Where we refer to another brand — in a comparison, or because an ingredient is known by a proprietary name — we do so for identification, and it implies no endorsement in either direction.
What you may do
You may read, print and share this content for your own personal, non-commercial use, and you may quote short extracts with attribution and a link. That is not a grudging concession: we write this material to be read and passed on.
What you may not do
- Republish our content, in whole or in substantial part, on another website, marketplace or platform.
- Sell, licence or otherwise commercialise it.
- Use our images or copy on a product listing that is not ours.
- Present our clinical or ingredient content as your own, or use it to support claims about a different product.
- Use our trade marks in your business name, domain name, social handle, advertising or search keywords.
- Scrape, harvest or systematically copy the site, or use it to train a model or build a dataset, without our written permission.
- Remove or obscure a copyright or trade mark notice.
Practitioners and stockists
If you dispense DermExcel from your rooms, you have a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the brand assets we supply, in the form we supply them, to promote the products you stock — for as long as your account is active and in good standing.
That licence does not extend to altering a logo, creating your own DermExcel materials, making clinical claims we have not published, or using our marks in a way that suggests your practice is owned by or speaks for us. If you need something we have not given you, ask — we would rather produce it than have it improvised.
Clinical photographs
Before-and-after images on this site are of real patients who gave written consent for their images to be used. They are not retouched to change the skin. They may not be copied or reused for any purpose. If you are a patient whose image appears here and you want it removed, email us and we will take it down — you do not have to give a reason, and we will not ask for one.
What you send us
If you post a review, a photograph, a comment or a suggestion, you keep ownership of it. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, adapt and publish it in connection with our products and our marketing, including on this site, in email and on social media, and you confirm that it is yours to give and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
If your review includes a photograph of yourself, that licence covers publishing it. Ask us and we will remove it.
We may edit a review for length or remove one that is abusive, off-topic, fraudulent or identifies someone else — but we do not remove reviews for being critical, and we do not publish reviews we wrote ourselves.
If you think we have infringed your rights
Tell us and we will look at it properly. Email info@dermalhealth.co.za with: the work you say has been infringed; exactly where it appears on our site; proof of your ownership or authority to act; your contact details; and a statement that you believe the use is not authorised. We will respond within five business days and remove anything we should not be using while we investigate.
Asking for permission
If you want to use something of ours beyond what is set out above — a journalist, a lecturer, a practitioner writing patient material — write to us. The answer is often yes, and it is quicker than you expect.
