ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN THIS TREATMENT PACK
BROAD SPECTRUM ANTI-MICROBIAL ACTIVITY:
- Inhibits and reduces the burden of Malassezia (ipophilic yeasts) on the skin.
- Targets gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as other fungi that cause ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch.
- Disrupts iron distribution across the yeast wall and effectively starves the yeast of some of the critical processes important in its respiratory function.
- Zinc Pyrithione penetrates the hair follicle where Malassezia resides and has a unique slow-release ability. It persists in the top layer of skin even after rinsing off the product. Therefore, it imparts long-lasting control and sustained release of anti-yeast coverage and suppression of the Malassezia yeast overgrowth.
- The yeast, fungi, and bacteria do not develop resistance towards Zinc Pyrithione. Consistent application of Zinc Pyrithione will, therefore, result in continuous antimicrobial activity.
Keratolytic and Comedolytic:
- Salicylic acid penetrates deeper into the pores to dislodge the paste-like combination of dead skin buildup and oil, preventing blockages.
- This makes the skin softer and more penetrable for the emerging hair strands to grow through.
- Salicylic acid also disrupts cellular junctions to exfoliate dead skin cells.
Anti-inflammatory action:
- Salicylic acid has potent anti-inflammatory effects, as it is an inhibitor of the arachidonic acid cascade.
Anti-bacterial:
- Inhibits the production of various aspects necessary for bacterial reproduction, such as fibrinogen, fibronectin, and alpha-hemolysis. Therefore, salicylic acid may neutralize the bacteria C. acnes present in the blemishes.
Treating and preventing premature skin aging:
- In addition to functioning as an acne treatment, salicylic acid is used in anti-aging skincare products due to its ability to brighten the complexion. It acts as an exfoliant by softening and dissolving keratin, thus allowing dead skin cells to shed naturally.
- Studies have suggested that the exfoliating properties of salicylic acid may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Over time, exfoliation helps to reduce the thickness of the layer of dead skin cells, giving the skin a brighter, more glowing appearance.
Salicylic acid is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in OTC drug products.
In addition to being FDA-approved as a safe and effective acne drug product, it is also approved for use in OTC drugs for corn, callus, wart removal, and anti-dandruff drug products.
Glycolic acid is a powerful ingredient that can help to address a variety of skin concerns, including acne.
- Exfoliates the skin: Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant that breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells, helping to unclog pores and remove debris that can contribute to acne breakouts.
- Reduces the appearance of acne scars: Glycolic acid can help to fade the appearance of acne scars by encouraging cell turnover and promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
- Regulates oil production: Glycolic acid can help to regulate sebum production, which can help to reduce the likelihood of clogged pores and breakouts.
- Improves skin texture and tone: Glycolic acid can help improve the skin's overall texture and tone by promoting cell turnover and collagen production.
- Enhances the effectiveness of other acne treatments: When combined with other acne-fighting ingredients, such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid can help enhance their effectiveness by improving their penetration and absorption into the skin.

BODY ACNE TREATMENT MODE OF ACTION

Regulate sebum (oil) production and excretion

SALICYLIC ACID; ZINC PYRITHIONE; GLYCOLIC ACID
- The excretion of lipids by the sebaceous glands is controlled hormonally.
- The sebaceous glands are located all over the body but are the largest and most numerous in the face, back, chest, and shoulders.
- These glands become more active during puberty because of increased androgens, particularly testosterone, which spurs sebum production.
- This imbalance between sebum production and secretion capacity leads to a blockage of sebum in the hair follicle, followed by inflammation.
- Hormones continue to affect sebaceous gland activity into adulthood.
All the main active ingredients in Body Breakouts Plus Treatment Pack contribute to sebum regulation.

Prevent dead skin cells and oil build-up in the pores

SALICYLIC ACID; GLYCOLIC ACID
- The first stage of acne is also known as comedogenesis (formation of comedones).
- The exfoliated dead skin cells stick together inside the hair follicle, resulting in a clogged pore or comedone.
- This is caused by several factors, including:
- Increased amounts of sebum
- Inflammation of the sides of the hair follicle preventing the release of the exfoliated keratinocytes
- Increased cohesion of keratinocytes
Salicylic acid decongests pores by dissolving and extracting dirt, oil, and cellular debris in the pores and follicles. Glycolic acid breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells, helping unclog pores and removing debris contributing to acne breakouts.

Prevent AND TREAT bacterial infiltration AND YEAST (FUNGAL) OVERGROWTH

SALICYLIC ACID; ZINC PYRITHIONE; GLYCOLIC ACID
- The keratinocyte plug and sebum are excellent food sources for bacteria and yeast.
- The bacteria invade the comedone and release inflammatory factors that lead to the next stage of acne.
All the main active ingredients in Body Breakouts Plus Treatment Pack contribute to preventing and treating bacterial infiltration.

Down-regulate the inflammatory response

SALICYLIC ACID; ZINC PYRITHIONE; GLYCOLIC ACID
- Inflammation continues with increased redness and pus.
- This is clinically detectable as a papule or pustule.
- Continued inflammation may lead to so much inflammation that the hair follicle ruptures and the bacteria and debris are released into the dermis.
- When severe, this can lead to scarring.
All the main active ingredients in Body Breakouts Plus Treatment Pack contribute to the down-regulation of the inflammatory response.
Prevent dead skin cells and oil build-up in the pores

SALICYLIC ACID; RETINOL

Malassezia are a family of yeast that can normally be found on the skin. Sometimes, when Malassezia gets into the hair follicles, it can cause an itchy condition that looks like an acne breakout.
Zinc Pyrithione penetrates the hair follicle where Malassezia resides and has a unique slow-release ability. It persists in the top layer of skin even after rinsing off the product. Therefore, it imparts long-lasting control and sustained release of anti-yeast coverage and suppression of the Malassezia yeast overgrowth.
Infection of the hair follicle with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is one of the most common causes of folliculitis. Small red or white pus-filled pimples can be seen on the skin.
Zinc Pyrithione also has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity: It targets gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as other fungi that cause ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch.
