MANAGING REACTIONS FROM INDIVIDUAL PRODUCTS

DermExcel products are formulated with proven medical-grade active ingredients. When effectively treating conditions such as Acne, Aging, and Pigmentation, certain reactions are to be expected from using acidic, medical-grade active ingredients.
Redness / peeling / stinging / burning is most likely caused by chemical exfoliators that form part of your treatment regimen.
Salicylic acid - The main chemical exfoliator in your Acne treatment plan.
Glycolic acid - The main chemical exfoliator in your Aging / Pigmentation treatment plan.

Salicylic acid is a fantastic FDA-approved ingredient to treat inflammation, acne, breakouts, and congested pores. Salicylic acid decongests pores by dissolving and extracting dirt, oil, and cellular debris in the pores and follicles. Salicylic acid also disrupts cellular junctions to exfoliate dead skin cells.
- Renewal Facial Cleanser
- Pore Control Cleanser
- Salicylic gel
- Chemical Peel Spray
- Inflacin serum
- Excelerate
The main function of Glycolic acid is to exfoliate the skin by dissolving the “glue” that holds dead skin cells together. With nothing forcing these cells to hang out together, they’re free to finally slough off your skin.
As the superficial, damaged layer of skin gives way to the newer layer underneath, your skin gets smoother and brighter. Wrinkles look smaller. Dark spots slowly fade away. Your whole complexion subtly glows.
All acne concerns, whether small blackheads or big acne cysts, start from dead cells plugged up within our pores. And since glycolic helps to loosen those dead cells from each other, it helps to reduce acne.

- Glycolic gel
- Chemical Peel Spray

- Follicure
When starting on a skin treatment plan that contains active ingredients, especially in the form of chemical exfoliators, initial redness may occur because of the following functions and benefits of these ingredients:
- Stimulation of lymphatic drainage for internal cleansing. This form of skin detoxification removes toxins and other unhealthy debris.
- Stimulation of oxygen-rich blood to feed and nourish the skin's surface. This boosts cellular health to reveal glowy, radiant skin. Increased blood flow to the surface of your skin also promotes collagen production.
- You are increasing your skin cell turnover rate. This means that it promotes new, healthy cells at the surface and breaks down and removes the dead, dry, or dying ones. The result is soft skin, smooth texture, and a more uniform appearance.
No management or intervention is needed if your redness is not associated with discomfort, stinging, or burning - continue with your current treatment plan.

CLEANSER:
Renewal Facial Cleanser / Pore Control Cleanser

- Wipe your face with a lukewarm face cloth in the morning. This will help to remove this loose dead skin.
CHEMICAL EXFOLIATOR
Salicylic gel / Excelerate / Chemical peel spray
- Use only once per week; when your skin becomes more tolerant you can increase the frequency of use. (This is not applicable to Excelerate - use Excelerate as per product usage directions.)
- If your skin is very red and sensitive, discontinue use for a few days until the sensitivity subsides.
- Start using it again only once per week.
- Accelerate the sloughing of loose dead skin cells by gently rubbing the area with a clean face cloth or micro-fibre sponge.
