  • Periorbital edema (puffy and tired eyes)
  • Aging and sun-damaged skin around the eyes
  • Dry skin around the eyes
  • Periorbital hyperpigmentation (dark circles)

Your Treatment Objectives

Decrease periorbital hyperpigmentation.

Repair the microcirculation by anti-inflammatory action.

Decrease fat bags.

Lipolytic action (breakdown of fat cells).

Decrease edema (under eye bags).

Decrease the fluid depot by draining action.

Vascular wall strengthening and tissue repair.

Collagen and elastin synthesis.

MAIN CHANGES IN THE AREA AROUND THE EYES

Dark circles

Various factors (ex., aging, bad lifestyle habits, sleep deprivation, UV exposure) trigger an immune response, leading to inflammation. In this inflammatory process, there is an increased production of melanin (pigment cells), resulting in pigmentation of the lower periorbital region.

Puffy eyes - Edema (Swelling)

Inflammation causes vasodilation (widening of the blood vessels) and increased vascular permeability (the ability of blood vessel walls to pass fluid through). This causes fluid to leak out of the blood vessels leading to edema (swelling).

Eyelid bags

The formation of periorbital bags includes many complex factors associated with the loss of skin elasticity in the eye region and the accumulation of liquid and fat.

Fine lines and wrinkles

Inflammation and oxidative stress break down collagen around the eyes. Collagen is key to keeping our skin firm, and elastin keeps it flexible.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO DARK CIRCLES

Dark under-eye circles are multifactorial. If you have dark circles, you may have several factors to blame:

  • Some people are born with thinner, paler skin with more pigment under their eyes, and/or slower vascular movement.
  • Skin tone may also be dark with more pigment under the eyes.
  • Dark blood vessels may be visible through the skin.

Many of these factors can be genetic, a result of your body's development, and environmental. However, in most cases, it's a combination of all the above.

THE MAIN CAUSES OF DARK CIRCLES

  • Lack of sleep
  • Sun damage
  • Sinus congestion
  • Rubbing eyelid skin due to allergies
  • Dehydration, dry and irritated skin
  • Bone loss and volume loss (maybe from aging or significant weight loss)
  • Protrusion of fat pads (bags under the eyes)
  • Smoking
  • Inflammation
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Excess pigmentation around the eyes
  • Dilated blood vessels leading to infraorbital oedema (swelling/puffiness) from inflammation

VITAMIN K MECHANISM OF ACTION

  • Vitamin K is essential in the body's healing process as it is responsible for blood clotting and wound healing.
  • Vitamin K improves and maintains blood vessel elasticity and vein integrity.
  • Vitamin K can minimise broken capillaries under the skin and helps with varicose veins. Vitamin K produces a protein that lowers vascular proliferation and mineralisation, which can halt the development of varicose veins.
  • Not only is vitamin K important for the repair of the blood vessel, but it also has an important role in the 'mop-up' of extravasated breakdown products of blood – i.e. haemosiderin deposition. This is responsible for the change from reddish to brownish colour of a bruise but also for the facilitation of the ultimate resolution in the aftermath of the bruising process.
  • It speeds up a reaction without destroying itself. Vitamin K works with a specific protein called the Matrix γ-carboxyglutamic acid protein. This protein inhibits the calcification (hardening, a part of the aging process) of elastin. This calcification leads to an inflammatory process. In this action as a coenzyme, vitamin K keeps the soft connective tissue from deterioration.
  • One of the major contributors Dark Circles Vitamin K significantly inhibits inflammation and is therefore beneficial for conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Lifestyle Changes for Dark Circles

Protect your eyes from the sun with sunglasses.

Avoid rubbing your eyes.

Treat allergy symptoms with over the counter antihistamine.

Use sunscreen every day, and reapply as needed.

Moisturise and treat the skin under your eyes with Dark Circle Eye serum.

Find a great concealer.

Keep your expectations reasonable: Keep in mind that for some people, getting rid of dark circles entirely just isn't possible. That's where a great concealer and highlighter come into play, not to mention the incremental improvements you'll notice from taking good care of your skin.

Time freeze eye serum most definitely made the fine lines around my eyes softer. They appear to not be so prominent anymore.

Absolutely amazing

This product and in fact all the products from Dermexel are just excellent. My skin looks and feels more radiant, and hydrated and I can see a HUGE difference in my skin. I really had a hard time finding the perfect product for my skin type and the problems I am having with my skin. And I thought let me try Dermexel, and I am really frustrated that I didn't try it before.
BUT these products are doing what they promised and MORE.

I am totally in love and obsessed with Dermexel.

Fast & Effective Results

Started seeing real results after about 3 weeks of using the Dark Circle Eye cream only once a day, at night. I have stopped using concealer under my eyes and now only a light CC cream.

Great natural luminescent skin and a little but of product stretches a long way!

Will definitely purchase again!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

While each ingredient has been tested and is considered safe for topical application, DermExcel™ products have not been tested on pregnant or breastfeeding women.

When pregnant or breastfeeding, it is recommended to avoid any skincare products containing retinoids such as DermExcel™ Retinol serum. Always consult with your doctor if you are unsure about the safety of use during pregnancy.

Medical skincare products are more focused on the formulation of advanced serums rather that moisturisers for the following reason:

Moisturisers are primarily designed to hydrate the skin by adding to- and sealing in the natural moisture of the body. Although moisturisers often contain ingredients to target specific issues like aging or sun damage, their main role is to get hydration to the skin and keep it there.

Serums, on the other hand, are formulated to penetrate deeply into the skin and address or even reverse the causes of aging and skin damage at the cellular level. Serums contain more active ingredients, antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins that work to repair the structure of skin cells, increasing skin radiance, smoothness, and suppleness.

Gold for the skin

Since using Retinol serum on my face, it feels firmer and blemish free! I have been using it for almost 2 years now and can clearly see a difference. We've immigrated to NZ within those two years and I still order and get it delivered religiously! I will never again use anything else.
