TIME OF APPLICATION:
- Apply Chemical Peel Spray in the morning and/or evening on cleansed skin.
FREQUENCY OF APPLICATION:
- Use morning and/or evening as tolerated, or follow the directions on your Dermal Diagnosis treatment plan.
IMPORTANT:
- The skin should be dry when applying Chemical Peel Spray. This will ensure optimal potency of the Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid in the product.
- Don't apply any other product over the area you treated with Chemical Peel Spray. The other product may alter the pH of Salicylic acid, which may lower the product's potency.
FACIAL APPLICATION:
- Apply on cleansed skin before bedtime.
- Spray on fingertips and apply over the face avoiding eyelids and lips.
- Rinse off in the morning.
- Always use SPF 30 or greater during the day.
BODY APPLICATION:
- Spray 1 - 3 sprays on affected areas morning and/or night.
- Clean skin prior to application.
- Spread the product by gently rubbing the area.
- Always use SPF 30 or greater during the day.

SALICYLIC & GLYCOLIC ACID MODE OF ACTION
SALICYLIC ACID
- Salicylic acid works by loosening and breaking apart desmosomes (attachments between cells in the outer layers of the skin). This action encourages exfoliation of dead and damaged skin and unclogging of pores.
- Disrupts cellular junctions to exfoliate dead skin cells.
GLYCOLIC ACID
- Glycolic acid facilitates progressive weakening of cohesion of the intercellular material of the outermost layers of the skin (stratum corneum), resulting in uniform exfoliation.
- Disrupts cellular junctions to exfoliate dead skin cells.
- Salicylic acid is lipophilic, which means it can penetrate oily skin and clogged pores, resulting in deep cleaning.
- Decongests pores by dissolving and extracting dirt, oil, and cellular debris in the pores and follicles.
SALICYLIC ACID
- Salicylic acid reduces sebum secretion.
- Salicylic acid has potent anti-inflammatory effects, as it is an inhibitor of the arachidonic acid cascade.
- Salicylic acid reduces inflammation by modulating COX2 gene expression to decrease the formation of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
GLYCOLIC ACID
- Reduce acne-related inflammation.
- Exhibit pH-dependent antibacterial activity against C. acnes. At a pH of 3-3.5, glycolic acid kills C. acnes cells by disrupting bacterial cell membranes.
SALICYLIC ACID
- Inhibits the production of various aspects necessary for bacterial reproduction, such as fibrinogen, fibronectin, and alpha-hemolysis. Therefore, salicylic acid may neutralize the bacteria C. acnes present in the blemishes.
GLYCOLIC ACID
- Exhibit pH-dependent antibacterial activity against C. acnes. At a pH of 3-3.5, glycolic acid kills C. acnes cells by disrupting bacterial cell membranes.
- Salicylic acid works well to balance sebum levels because it is lipid or oil soluble. So rather than remaining on the skin's surface, salicylic acid penetrates deep into sebum-filled pores.
SALICYLIC ACID
- In addition to functioning as an acne treatment, salicylic acid is used in anti-aging skincare products due to its ability to brighten the complexion. It acts as an exfoliant by softening and dissolving keratin, thus allowing dead skin cells to shed naturally.
- Studies have suggested that the exfoliating properties of salicylic acid may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Over time, exfoliation helps to reduce the thickness of the layer of dead skin cells, giving the skin a brighter, more glowing appearance.
GLYCOLIC ACID
- Exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal the newer, brighter layers underneath by acting on the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin). Normal, intact stratum corneum consists of tightly packed layers of dead skin cells tightly bonded together. Glycolic acid loosens these bonds. With their glue dissolved by glycolic acid, those tough, rough layers of dead skin cells can more easily slough away.
- The small molecular size of glycolic acid allows for deeper penetration in the skin layers, where it stimulates fibroblasts to produce increased amounts of collagen. By stimulating collagen production, it helps skin feel firmer and minimises fine lines and wrinkles.
- Inducing chemical exfoliation removes dead, damaged, and discoloured skin cells from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation faster. It drives new skin cells to the surface of the face. This spurred cell renewal helps to reveal the healthier, underlying skin, and promotes a more even skin tone overall.
- Glycolic acid suppresses melanin formation by inhibiting tyrosinase activity.

Except for the two prescription molecules, hydroquinone (which has a relatively high systemic absorption rate) and tretinoin (for which the evidence is limited and controversial), skincare products act locally and produce minimal systemic levels. In most cases, women can deal with these cosmetically unappealing skin conditions without compromising the safety of their unborn children.
No DermExcel™ product contains hydroquinone or tretinoin. These active ingredients are only available by prescription from a medical doctor.
DermExcel™ Retinol serum contains an active ingredient very similar to tretinoin. We, therefore, advise customers to discontinue the use of Retinol serum until after pregnancy.

To maintain an optimal pH value, it's best not to layer Chemical Peel Spray with another product.

- Sensitive skin: For sensitive skin or skin not used to active ingredients, start Chemical Peel Spray 1-2 times per week. Initial purging or sensitivity reactions may occur.
