Always interesting to self-reflect. Who am I?

I am determined, headstrong, a social butterfly, and adventurous. I love the outdoors, exercise, and being healthy.

I find following a healthy ‘diet’, and regular exercise really improves my whole outlook on life, so I try to ensure I keep this up.

I have recently become a mum, so little sleep and little time does make it challenging, but I still try to manage the healthy side to ensure I can cope with life.

I am also rather extroverted so can’t go too long without seeing people and meeting new people. Again being a mum has challenged me here a bit however my poor baby has no choice sometimes. 😊

I love working and having a goal, waking up every day with a list of things I can do to improve my business.

What is the Vision of LARA FAY?

When I think of my brand it is to become that household name for premium activewear and athleisure in South Africa.

A wardrobe for how we live these days, whether that be moving or living. In other words a wardrobe for the modern woman.

I am determined to keep it locally manufactured, too which has its challenges but also incredible to grow our economy. It is also far more sustainable.

On this, we do intend to grow the sustainability side with more recycled fabrics and a lower carbon footprint. Our current range is made from recycled Nylon (recycled fishing nets).

Where did you find the inspiration?

Gosh, this is a long story. I actually wanted to do it for years but it took me ages to take the plunge.

I used to live in London in my early 20s and at that time already (we going back 20 years!) there were a couple of beautiful activewear brands for women, who focused on giving women fashionable and stylish exercise gear.

Back then there wasn’t much here, only a version of a men’s item. I thought at the time, this is what I wanted to do.

Bring women beautiful, flattering clothing for exercise as well as just an active lifestyle. I also have always worked in the fashion industry so gained much experience over the years.

Then finally my love for sport and exercise really made me take the plunge. I became extremely competitive in my 30s and my life became entrenched in competitive sports. It was such an incredible decade for me, teaching me what I really love to do.

Eventually, all the dots were just in the right place, so I combined all of this into the Lara Fay brand.

What makes your brand different?

We really are premium. We use the best fabrics sourced from Italy and Brazil for our activewear.

We are also trying to merge activewear with other products to create an overall stylish casual look. I wear my Leopard print leggings with my oversized sweater all day. (probably a bit too much but hey its so comfy!)

What gives you confidence as the owner of a business?

I get confidence from my customers. We get the most incredible reviews from people who have taken the chance and ordered from us.

This is what makes me buzz and what gives me confidence with my brand.
