My name is Karen. I am 28 years old, passionate about everything Interior and the founder of de.noor.
I am employed full-time in the Interior Design Industry, whilst running de.noor on the side. My gorgeous husband and I have been happily married for 4 years, together with our four legged Beagle pup, we are dedicated to building the brand as well as our dream life.
What is the Vision of de.noor?
De.noor was born in 2019 with the vision of building a brand that offers local, handmade, unique, and modern home decor products with the purpose of collaborating with as well as supporting local small business owners.
Where did you find the inspiration?
I've always loved home decor and making a house a home.
My husband and I decided to exchange a corporate ladder lifestyle for an entrepreneurial dream, we took a leap of faith - and de.noor was born.
De.noor started out with selling handmade wooden shelving, straight from our single garage in the heart of Pretoria. It has grown to the point of only selling products from local small businesses.
What makes your brand different?
I believe my brand is different in that I strive to ensure that the majority of our products are unique, handmade and not easily found in the marketplace.
I also try my very best to only use small business owners with the aim of assisting them to get their products noticed by consumers.
What gives you confidence as the owner of a business?
Being a business owner gives me the confidence to know that you can do anything you set your mind to.
A few years ago I would never have dreamed that I could start a business. However, anything is possible when you take the leap of faith and pursue your dreams.
Not only did de.noor make me a business owner: it taught me about product photography; social media marketing; buying and merchandising, how to acquire unique products, how to build business relationships, and the list goes on, but most importantly, it gave me the confidence to know that I am capable.
